Scientific Dissemination of the Theranostic Approach to Cancer based on the Activities Developed by CEPID - CancerThera

Abstract

Representing the RIDC CancerThera (FAPESP - process number: 2021/10265-8) and aware of the complex development of research on the theranostic approach to cancer (simultaneous therapy and diagnosis) and the need to disseminate scientific knowledge to society in an accessible, reliable, and uncomplicated way, we, Amira Al Dargham (undergraduate student in Medialogy/Unicamp) and Larissa Mansano de Souza (Medicine/Unicamp), through this "journalistic research proposal", plead for our participation in the Comunicar Ciência program (FAPESP, Futura Chanel, and Roberto Marinho Foundation) and the granting of scholarships for initiation to scientific journalism. When information on cancer and its forms of prevention and treatment is disseminated understandably and reliably, we believe that it is possible to improve people's quality of life and reduce the impact of cancer on society. Disseminating the activities developed at the RIDC CancerThera can arouse interest in the research center, gain support for its activities, and ward off the harmful effects of fake, inaccurate, and incorrect news about the disease that is frequently circulating. Thus, in this document, we present our justification for the choice of the RIDC CancerThera as the object of the scientific dissemination products that will result from our work, as well as we list the researchers who will be both collaborators and beneficiaries of our actions and, finally, we highlight the planned activities and the schedule for carrying them out during the scholarships concession.
